Christina has been working in the veterinary and animal welfare communities for eleven years, from her first job at age fifteen as a veterinary assistant to her current positions as a pet nurse at Blue Pearl Specialty and Emergency Center in Overland Park, KS and as an intake and behavior specialist at the Lawrence Humane Society in Lawrence, KS. Animals are her first passion, and she is proud of the work she does every day to save and enrich their lives.
In addition to her work with companion animals, Christina has also served as a social media specialist and co-owner of a social media consultation firm, presenting at events such as Highlight Midwest and Chicks Who Click. Her specialty and passion within the industry is social media for nonprofits.
When she isn’t saving pets or working on social media strategies, Christina is also a photographer, shooting landscapes, still life, and portraits. She is hoping to one day be a published wildlife photographer and is currently practicing on whatever will hold still long enough for her shutter to open and close.
At the end of the day, Christina trades in all the many other hats she wears for a toque blanche. She has a flair for cooking and especially loves vegan and vegetarian fare. She even ran her own blog, Vegan on the Cheap, for several years. Christina loves experimenting with new recipes and unusual ingredients, and if you ask nicely, she will absolutely cook you dinner.
